Statement

I primarily make large, loose, figurative oil paintings, grounded in direct observation.  People (and what they do) interest me most, so much of the work tends towards narrative. But even something as simple and straightforward as a portrait interests me.  Drawing is at the foundation of everything I make, and color is an increasingly important element, both formally and as something that drives the narrative.

About

Originally from the Los Angeles area, I studied painting there before moving to Germany. After 10 years there, I moved to New York City and earned an MFA in painting at the New York Studio School. I currently live and work in New York.
